When an international student goes abroad to pursue their higher studies, they worry about the way of life where they have decided to study. The student life in China is not much different from other countries in the world. In fact, it could be much better comparing with many other countries.
Living standard has improved dramatically in China for the past 30 years. International students in most of the cities can enjoy world class transportation facilities that include modern buses, high-speed trains, etc. International students can also enjoy all kinds of cuisines like Chinese, Western, Japanese, Korean, etc. that are available in most of the major cities. Western fast food restaurant like McDonald, Starbucks, KFC, etc. can easily be found in most of the cities.
When it comes to Chinese culture and traditions, student can participle in many different festivals like Chinese Spring Festival (春节 Chūnjié), Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节 Zhōngqiū jié), Yuan Xiao Festival (元宵节 Yuánxiāo jié), Dragon Boat Festival (端午节, Duānwǔ jié), etc.
Generally, there are many student societies and clubs available in the universities, where international students can actively participle and gain valuable experience.
Participating into these festivals and involving into various other activities on-campus or off-campus will surely assist the international students to get familiar with Chinese culture and learn Mandarin (i.e. official language of the PRC) very fast that can help him (i.e. international student) to find part-time job during his or her studies and full-time job after completion of his or her studies.
